The temple manager visited the Zen master and asked about his health. The Zen master replied, “Sun-Faced Buddha! Moon-Faced Buddha!”
The Sun-Faced Buddha has a lifespan of 1,800 years, while the Moon-Faced Buddha lives for only one day and one night. The Zen master explained, “If you are asking about the Dharma body and wisdom life, it is very long; if you are asking about the physical body, it is very short.”
Whether being a Sun-Faced Buddha or a Moon-Faced Buddha, living for a hundred years or a thousand years is the same. If you say I have longevity, I might live longer than you imagine; don’t worry about me having a short life, I might live so briefly that it doesn’t even last a day.

Our physical bodies are inevitably subject to decay. If we can use this body to benefit our karma and be of service to all beings, then living one day is equivalent to living a thousand years. If we live without growing in virtue and wisdom, and without helping others, then living is equivalent to not living. Therefore, it is better to live earnestly for one day, making every second a true reflection of oneself.

Sat Nam , The Truth is my name。
